Very close to my heart and often a very controversial topic is the plight of refugees. Refugees and asylum seekers being a topic that everybody has a divisive opinion on, but one where many of us do not understand the basic facts.  Surveys show several people throughout Australia and the rest of the world do not really gauge the real life dilemmas refugees and asylum seekers face.

As my work involves close contact and interaction with refugees from as far afield as Myanmar in Asia to Congo in Africa, I am frequently asked some key questions about refugees. Since this week from the 19th June 2016 to 25th June 2016 is refugee week, I thought it a befitting time to answer some common questions in order to dispel and debunk some myths surrounding refugees.image
